Sophie Hayes Project Brief 2013
Start date: 28th January

Hand in date: 7th May

Introduction
I am going to look into fashion how
it shapes our culture and our identity. I want to explore how it’s influenced
by our music and art, looking at magazines such as Dazed and Confused. Although
people don’t like being put into a category and it’s often ‘cool’ to be known
as an individual. This is often not the case as music and culture do influence
people’s identity and style. I want to look at different music cultures and
cities in England to see if they are influenced.
Research and Ideas
By looking at a wide range of
research from magazines, online blogs, books, short films, gigs and visiting
different cities. I will be able to see the relation of music and art in
fashion. How it influences it? Also looking at the culture behind these areas
and what identity it gives people. I am also going to look at designers who
work closely with artists, presenting them with a strong sense of identity,
such as Sarpol for Nicki Minaj. Collecting my own research of photographs and
interview’s on street style will help me understand why people dress the way
they do. I would like to focus on women’s clothing, looking at a young
audience.
